Yebwiersma - Think Of A Storm
THINK OF
A STORM¹
Artistic Research Residency [2011] - a visual and literary exploration of the Noord-Oost Polder Area [NL]. Initiated by Museum de Paviljoens and hosted by
Studio Makkink Bey. During my journeys through the New Land I thought of an interior storm, of thoughts and stories adrift -roaming the skies uneasily- bringing along my on site harvest. Reflections and Results will be presented next year.

Area: Oostvaardersplassen. 'Approaching Wilderness'.
Once, the North East Polder belonged to the Zuiderzee - Southern Sea. This all changed in 1942 when this semi-wild sea area was tamed by Dutch engineers and turned into new, fertile agricultural land. The overall architectural structure of the Polder was designed according to Dutch Modernistic tradition; sober and most functional. resembling a Mondrian grid. Dikes draw pencil lines separating the water from the land, the Wilderness from Geometrism.
