Yebwiersma - Pleasure Dome
On Reading Room La Trobe
State Library Melbourne
2004 + 2013
Next year I will return to the La Trobe Reading Room to stage a site specific video work capturing my first hand experience¹. Unlike the introvert, still photographs of The Sleepers, these portrait series will research the energy, the possible brainstorm rising - triggered by the architectural aesthetics and intellectual property of the La Trobe Reading Dome. Ingredients for these series: Library visitors, trampoline, wind machine.

1. In the midst of Melbourne's financial district a massive Victorian State Library arises along with a grand scale Reading Dome built in 1913. The largest of its type in the world on completion. Much appreciated for its glass roof top, which delivers tons of natural daylight. Enlightening the daily visitors. Making my first visit to the La Trobe Reading Room, a physical sensation came over me; this literary pleasure dome lifts you up.
