Daily walks through the nearby woods collecting photographs, drawings and thoughts.
Work: Permanent Light Piece Installation installed at the residency centre in Nairs².

YW: Although the residency has been operating for twenty years, to the villagers the guest artists are still and often considered THE STRANGE PEOPLE FROM THE VALLEY.
With this also brings a sense of freedom and fun because, assumptions are made and suspicions are high. I wanted to play with this idea and came across two German words:
Fremdenzimmer + Gastarbeiter³ -which cut up in four pieces- well defined our complex situation as foreign artist-in-residence:

Fear Eats Soul. Fassbinder expertly uses the emotional power of Ali's 'broken German' to underscore the tensions between the locals and the foreigners:

2. Installing the Light Piece onto AIR Centre Nairs, CH. Height: 8 meters. Steel Pole and Light Bulbs. Commisioned by Art in Engiadina Bassa. Part of Show TRANSIT. With artists Rahel Hagenauer and Roman Signer.
Every Night from Dusk till Dawn the Light Work illuminates the Dark Valley Nairs. The different letters light up one by one untill all words glow in the dark. NAIRS - Means 'Blacker than Black' in the Rhaeto-Romanic Language.
